The US Air Force recognized the need to serve its relocating families in transit by providing modern, functional, well-equipped temporary lodging facilities (TLF).  The WS project team was selected by the Air Force Services Agency to develop a Standard TLF Prototype of one and two bedroom living units.  These units are intended to be standard designs that can be site adapted to a wide variety of capacities, site restrictions, geo-technical conditions, seismic requirements, climatic variations, building heights and construction techniques for any Air Force installation world-wide.  In addition to the individual unit floor plans several different modules of one and two bedroom unit combinations and a free-standing service building were also provided.

The team also developed several exterior design options employing combinations of brick, exterior insulating finish systems, standing seam metal and clay tile roofing.  These combinations provide a palette to achieve most architectural treatments and building heights required by the individual base plans.

For the individual one and two bedroom unit interiors the team located all furniture, cabinetry and appliances along with finishes, plumbing, electrical and communication outlets to ensure that the rooms were functionally viable.  Each base will have a choice of three interior design palette schemes.
